Pennine Way - A Geological Companion

Charlie Bendall

At 255 miles long, the Pennine Way is the oldest official long-distance footpath in the UK and stretches from Edale, in the heart of the Peak District, to Kirk Yetholm, just over the Scottish Border in the shadow of the Cheviot Hills. This book will take you on a journey through the fascinating geological landscape of this well-trodden path.

About the author

Charlie Bendall taught geology for the Open University, and later at Aberystwyth University, for 25 years after completing his PhD on metamorphic and structural geology at the University of Manchester. He has also walked the Pennine Way five times between 1974 and 2022. His enthusiasm for geology and his affection for the Pennine Way and the hills of northern England led to the writing of this book.
