About the author

Dr Peter Toghill is a lecturer in geology at the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Birmingham. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and was awarded the prestigious R.H. Worth Prize by the Geological Society for promoting an understanding of geology to a wider public.
