Press Reviews

"Most botanical painters begin their careers with a love of plants and an urge to draw and paint them. Here, at last, is an artist who is first and foremost a botanist demystifying the science that underpins our art.

This is a book that enlightens without intimidating and informs without oversimplifying. It is an essential reference book for any painter without a good grounding in botany."

- Hampton Court Palace Florilegium Society Newsletter

"Botany For Artists fills a gap in the wealth of books available on the subject of botanical art. Other books mostly cover the history of the subject and the drawing and painting techniques required in order to portray and render an attractive three dimesnional study. However it has been evident for some time that botanical artists need more help to understand the structures of the plant placed before them in order to produce an accurate and convincing illustartion.

Thank you Liz for producing this book which answers amny questions and purposely makes us ask many more about the plants we are drawing. By using this book we will be encouraged to look more closely, question more frequently and most of all draw with understanding!
